Description

The Alexandrinsky Theatre, one of the oldest and most famous theatres in Russia, was founded in 1756 in St. Petersburg. Since then, it has remained a significant cultural centre and a symbol of Russian theatre art.

The theatre stage was the first to show works by such famous Russian authors as A. P. Chekhov, N. V. Gogol, A. N. Ostrovsky and others. Today, the theatre continues to amaze its audience with the diversity of its repertoire, where you can find both classical productions in a modern interpretation and plays by contemporary playwrights.

The Alexandrinsky Theatre has two stage areas: the Main Stage and the New Stage, the latter of which opened in 2013. The auditoriums include the stalls, seats behind the chairs, the dress circle, the balcony and the Tsar's Box. The theater can accommodate up to 1,700 spectators.

One of the theater's distinctive features is its architectural design, which allows actors to perform without microphones thanks to unique acoustics. Special reflective surfaces and the shape of the side walls ensure the purity of the sound.

The theater's interior is designed with meticulous attention to detail. The hall has a horseshoe shape, which ensures excellent visibility from all seats. Luxurious chandeliers and rich decor create an atmosphere that transports spectators to 18th-century St. Petersburg.

Although there are no traditional VIP zones in the Alexandrinsky Theater, there is a Tsar's Box. Originally intended for the imperial family, it now accommodates six spectators, providing comfort and privacy. The box is located on the second floor in the center of the hall, offering an excellent view of the stage, creating a complete immersion in the performance.
