The Eifman Ballet is always a unique performance staged by a talented choreographer, performed by ballet stars. The theater appeared in the late 70s, and its very first experiments heralded the emergence of a new approach to working on ballet productions.
Boris Yakovlevich Eifman, the creator of the theater and its artistic director, bases his work primarily on the need to reveal the inner essence of the conflict and the psychology of the characters. The theater’s repertoire includes both performances based on classical literature and modern productions.
The poster of the Eifman Theater in St. Petersburg is sure to interest everyone who appreciates this kind of art, and for those who have never been to the performances of the famous theater, it will be an occasion to correct this situation.
Schedule of upcoming performances
The tour at the Alexandrinsky Theater in St. Petersburg will take place in October. The theater will present the ballet «Russian Hamlet», dedicated to Emperor Paul I. The short reign of the odious ruler ended tragically. Pavel’s personality, mysterious and contradictory, constantly provides food for new interpretations of his fate. Eifman and his troupe explored the story from the psychological side, telling how Pavel’s personality also disintegrates with the destruction of family ties.
So in October we are watching the Pygmalion Effect. The ballet premiered in 2019 and became a dance interpretation of Bernard Shaw’s play Pygmalion.
